NEW DELHI, Dec 21 (KUNA) -- At least 18 rebels of the Liberation Tigers of
Tamil Eelam (LTTE) have been killed on Friday in a series of clashes in Sri
Lanka's northern region.
As many as two LTTE rebels were killed by the Sri Lankan Army at Muhamalai
in Jaffna, Sri Lanka's Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said in a
statement in Colombo.
Three LTTE cadres were killed in Vavuniya yesterday, MCNS said.
In Welioya two women LTTE cadres have been killed in clashes with the
security forces.
The Sri Lankan Defence Ministry also said today that as many as 11 LTTE
rebels have been killed last night in five separate clashes between in Jaffna
and Wanni regions. (end)
