BAGHDAD, Dec 6 (KUNA) -- Nine Iraqi Kurd soldiers and three gunmen were
killed during in attack on an army base in the province of Diyala, northeast
of Iraq, a security source said here on Thursday.
The source told KUNA that a group of terrorists attacked a base for the
Kurdistani affiliated forces the Bishmarka at Qura Tebih town north of
Baqouba, Diyala's largest city.
Nine Bishmarka soldiers died during the clash in which three of the gunmen
were killed, said the source.
The Bishmarka forces are deployed in several areas in Diyala in an effort
to help stabilize one of the most unsettling areas in Iraq. (end)
