BAGHDAD, Oct 31 (KUNA) -- US forces killed 51 dissidents from AL-Sadr
militias during military operations on October 21-27th in Baghdad, a US
military statement said on Wednesday.
The statement said US forces were able to target "special locations" which
were used by the militias in the area.
During the operations 14 militants were arrested and confessed to using
these locations for military purposes, the statement said.
In a separate statement the US military said coalition forces captured a
wanted individual and detained eleven others early Wednesday during an
operation in support of ongoing efforts to stabilize the region.
The captured suspect is a Special Groups' commander with close ties to
several other criminal organizations, the statement said.
Intelligence further indicated that the suspect had conducted multiple
criminal operations in the Khalis and Qasirin area.
The suspected criminal appears to be directly linked to providing lethal
weapons used against Coalition and Iraqi security forces, and innocent
civilians, the statement said.(end)
