ISLAMABAD, Sept 9 (KUNA) -- Pakistani security forces in a retaliatory
operation Sunday killed at least 10 militants and wounded about a dozen others
in North Waziristan tribal agency bordering Afghanistan, said an official.
The forces launched a retaliatory operation after militants attacked a
convoy in Sarnarai area of the agency, military spokesman Waheed Arshad told
media.
He said the operation killed ten militants and wounded about a dozen
others. He said about eight soldiers were also wounded in the attack.
Also, said security sources, in Bajaur tribal agency suspected militants
attacked a security checkpost in Charmung area and kidnapped two Levies force
personnel.
Forces launched an operation for the release of two kidnapped soldiers and
arrested 17 tribesmen, said sources. They said forcers and militants traded
fire.
The latest kidnapping incident has taken place amid a grand tribal Jirga is
holding negotiations with militants in South Waziristan tribal agency to
secure the release of 250 soldiers, being kidnapped since last 13 days. (end)
