BEIRUT, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- Helicopters of the Lebanese military on Tuesday
raided bunkers of Fatah al-Islam fighters holed up in Nahr al-Bared
Palestinian camp, in north Lebanon.
News reports from inside the camp said that helicopters of the Lebanese
army fired a number of missiles at bunkers of the Fatah al-Islam militant
groups holed up inside the camp.
Heavy clashes were still going on between the two sides as the Lebanese
army was seen raiding outposts of the militants in the vegetable markets and
the east front so that they would be isolated to be easily targeted by the
army later on.
Army commander in chief General Michel Sleimane claimed the Fatah al-Islam
group was linked to Al-Qaeda and had been planning attacks both in Lebanon and
abroad when the army moved in. (end)
