Arab environment executive office to meet in November

CAIRO, Aug 11 (KUNA) -- The executive office of the Arab Environment Ministers' Council will hold its 38th session at the Arab League Secretariat on November 7 and 8.
Egypt's Environment Minister Maged George said in a press release the meeting will discuss environment issues in the Arab world and renew commitment to the Arab Initiative for Sustainable Development.
The meeting will try to make that initiative an essential axis of the work of Arab specialized organizations in line with the recommendations of the Algiers Arab Summit of 2005, the minister pointed out.
It will also tackle issues regarding cooperation with United Nations agencies, notably the UN Environment Program (UNEP) and the West Asia Socio-Economic Committee, to implement the projects of environment protection and economic development in the Arab region.
The meeting will also highlight ways of creating atmospheres conducive to economic growth and encouraging the private investments in Arab countries, he added.
