GAZA, July 5 (KUNA) -- Five Palestinians were killed and more than six
others were injured early Thursday in an Israeli incursion in Breij and
Maghazi camps in central Gaza.
Palestinian medical sources and eyewitnesses told KUNA a large number of
Israeli vehicles and tanks stormed Abu Qaleeq region, west of Breij, under
cover of heavy rocket and bullet firing.
The attack was backed up by military helicopters which are still flying
over the region, they said.
Armed Palestinian groups engaged in fierce clashes with the Israelis, and
fired mortar and RPG missiles, they added.
Hamas's military wing, Ezzedin Al-Qassam Brigades, announced that three of
its men were killed in clashes with Israeli special forces near Breij. The
martyrs are Mohammad Siyam, 35, Ahmad Al-Qairanawi, 20, and Mohammad
Al-Owaidat, 23.
The brigades also claimed responsibility of launching an RPG missile at the
Israeli special forces and another at an Israeli bulldozer. (end)
