BAGHDAD, May 18 (KUNA) -- Five US soldiers were killed and 10 injured in
combat operations in southern Baghdad on Thursday, the American army said
Friday.
Two American soldiers were killed and nine injured in clashes with gunmen
in southern Baghdad on Thursday, the army said in a statement.
The statement said three of the injured soldiers have already returned to
normal duties.
Three US soldiers were also killed and another was injured when their
vehicles stepped over a land-mine in southern Baghdad, said the army.
Fifty US soldiers were killed in May only, while the number of dead since
March 2003 rose to 3,401. (end)
