Turkey's Islamic research center issues 32nd volume of Islamic encyclopedia By Taha Odeh (with photos) ISTANBUL, April 26 (KUNA) -- During the current campaign against Islam and its followers, Turkey's Center for Islamic Studies (ISAM) has been very active in providing Muslims with much needed religious guidance and information.
Established by Turkey's religious endowments authority (Turkiye Diyanet Vakfi, TDV), the center works on spreading Islamic culture in accordance with scientific measures.
As part of its ongoing efforts, the center includes many qualified authors and researchers, and has recently issued the 32nd volume of its Islamic encyclopedia.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), ISAM's director Dr. Akif Aydin outlined the center's achievements and efforts in presenting Islamic culture.
As the most important project by ISAM, the encyclopedia is a comprehensive scientific reference guide for persons wishing to conduct research in Islamic and social sciences, he explained.
For the next five years, every year will witness publishing two volumes of the encyclopedia "we are thinking about translating into Arabic and English," he noted.
The center includes a large library and currently supports many researchers within and outside Turkey, said Aydin who added that the center also publishes an Islamic studies journal since 1997.
He said the center has also photocopied many judicial records from the Ottoman era to assist researchers in that field.
ISAM also publishes its researchers' Ph.D. dissertations, studies and lectures, he added.(end) ta.ayh KUNA 261040 Apr 07NNNN
