CAIRO, March 11 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, who has
announced intention to run for Egypt's presidency, said Friday he would vote
against the proposed constitutional amendments, in the planned referendum on
March 19.
In a meeting with a number of Egyptian intellectuals, Moussa called for
writing a new constitution.
Adopting a new constitution is the number one priority of the Egyptian
political streets now, added Moussa, who served as a foreign minister under
ousted president Hosni Mubarak from 1991 till 2001.
He also stressed that the presidential election must precede the
parliamentary one.
During his diplomatic stint, Moussa gained such a strong following among
Egyptians due to his pro-Palestinian stances. (end)
