GENEVA, May 25 (KUNA) -- The mission of the united Nations office for
coordination of Humanitarian affairs (OCHA) announced on Tuesday that
Emergency Relief Coordinator John Holmes will conduct his fifth official visit
to Sudan May 26-30.
During his mission, Holms will assess conditions in southern Sudan, and
also evaluate the humanitarian situation in Darfur.
In southern Sudan, he will travel to Wau, in Western Bar el Ghazal state,
and to Warrap state, where he will examine issues of food insecurity,
humanitarian assistance to displaced people, and rising concerns of
intertribal violence.
He will also conduct meetings in Juba with Government officials and
representatives from the United Nations and non government organizations.
ln Darfur, Holmes will visit displaced communities and assess efforts to
provide resettlement options for displaced people. In discussions with local
authorities and members of the humanitarian community, he will also look into
ongoing efforts to reach populations in need of humanitarian assistance.
The mission of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of
Humanitarian Affairs (CCHA) is to mobilize and coordinate effective and
principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international
