AMMAN, Nov 2 (KUNA) -- The number of fatalities from the H1N1 virus
increased to seven in Jordan, with the announcement today of the passing away
of two women, one of whom was pregnant, a health official noted here on Monday.
No death cases will be covered up by the ministry of Health, and all such
cases will be officially published every Wednesday in the ministry's weekly
H1N1 report, said director of primary care at the ministry Dr Adel Al-Balbisi.
The number of accumulated H1N1 virus cases since the ministry started
registering them beginning in last June stands currently at 2,217, of which 40
are still being treated and three of those have been deemed critical, he said.
The ministry of Health and the World Health Organization expect that the
rate of contracting the so-called swine flu will pick up in the weeks ahead
when the customary flu season will be in full swing, he said. (end)
