Pakistan violates truce with India, fires at Indian troopers

NEW DELHI, May 14 (KUNA) -- Pakistan has violated the 2003 ceasefire agreement with India along the Line of Control (LoC) by firing at Indian positions. "Pakistani troops violated a 2003 ceasefire agreement and fired at Indian positions near the LoC that divides Indian-administered and Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir," an Indian Army spokesperson told Indo Asian News Service Wednesday.
"It was the first violation of the bilateral ceasefire that came into effect in November 2003," he said adding that "the firing incident took place in the Tangdhar sector of the LoC in north Kashmir late Tuesday night." There were no casualties on the Indian side. "Pakistan fired scores of rounds at India. However, we did not retaliate," he said.
"India has lodged a strong protest with Pakistan. Thier troops resorted to unprovoked firing at our posts," the spokesperson charged.
The Indian Army has asked the Pakistan Army to take part in a flag meeting to address the issue. (end) dr.ema KUNA 141524 May 08NNNN
