KUWAIT, May 30 (KUNA) -- 1962 -- The Amir Sheikh Abdullah Alآ­Salem Alآ­Sabah opened oil refinery at Mina Abdullah.
1967 -- A unit of the Kuwaiti army left to Egypt to partake in the war against Israel.
1985 -- Kuwait Tennis Federation was established.
1998 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Alآ­Ahmad Alآ­Jaber Alآ­Sabah received heads of Kuwaiti diplomatic missions abroad and stresses the state's keenness on promoting peace and coآ­existence among all peoples. He called for more effort to truly and rightly represent Kuwait's policies and humanitarian and peaceful stances at international conventions.
1998 -- The Ministry of Commerce and Industry signed a contract with the National Real Estate Company construct the Free Trade Zone at Shuwaikh Port.
1998 -- The National Assembly approved a draft law to prohibit candidates and voters contesting candidacy in their constituency on the basis of dispute over possible candidacy or voting in the wrong constituency. They were allowed to object in cases where votes of military personnel or deceased individuals were detected or suspected.
2006 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Alآ­Ahmad Alآ­Jaber Alآ­Sabah inaugurated the 31st Meeting of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank.
2010 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Alآ­Ahmad Alآ­Jaber Alآ­Sabah issued a decree to organize and regulate privatization. The decree established the higher council for privatization, under the Prime Minister's chairmanship.
2010 -- MP Khaled Alآ­Tahous submitted a grilling motion against His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Alآ­Mohammad Alآ­Sabah regarding increasing pollution at Ali Sabah Alآ­Salem district, previously named Umm Alآ­Haiman. (end) gta
