KUWAIT, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- 1963 -- The Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issues an Amiri order appointing Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah as the Prime Minister. Sheikh Sabah was the first Prime Minister in the history of Kuwait.
1971 -- Bank of Kuwait and the Middle East is established.
1975 -- National Assembly elections take place for the fourth legislative term with 256 candidates competing. Khaled Saleh Al-Ghunaim later was elected speaker.
1977 -- Kuwait set to join the international agreement for telecommunications.
1977 -- Kuwait joins the International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid.
1977 -- Kuwait set to join the International Maritime Satellite Organization (Inmarsat).
1998 -- Kuwait is put on an honor list for fully paying its pledge of USD 1.62 million to the United Nations.
