KUWAIT, March 15 (KUNA) -- 1964 -- Stefan Stefanov, Bulgaria's first ambassador to Kuwait, presented his credentials to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
1967 -- The Arab Towns Organization was established, with headquarters set up in Kuwait. It is a regional, non-governmental organization, specialized in towns and municipalities' affairs.
1974 -- Kuwait Television started transmission with the colored Pal system.
1975 -- The Gulf Cables and Electrical Industries Company was established.
1983 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued Law 10/83 approving an accord to establish the Common Fund for Commodities, endorsed by the UN Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD), in Geneva on June 27, 1980, and signed by Kuwait on December 1, 1981.
1983 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued Law 13/83 endorsing Kuwait's joining the agreement of establishing the Arab Organization for Industrial Development, signed in Tunis on May 15, 1979, for improving Arab industry.
1983 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued Law 20/83, endorsing an agreement on encouraging, protecting and guaranteeing investment among members of the Organization of Islamic Conference [Cooperation] (OIC) signed on October 28, 1981, to ease movement of capital among member states.
1983 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah publicized Law 21/83 endorsing an agreement on easing and developing trade exchange among Arab nations, signed in Tunis on February 27, 1981, with aim of fully exempting Arab goods and products from custom fees and administrative restrictions.
1994 -- Kuwait exempted Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens from filling entry forms at its ports.
1995 -- The Kuwaiti Cabinet suspended the daily "Al-Anbaa" newspaper from publication for five days for publishing an interview with the Secretary General of the Islamic Constitutional Movement. The publishing was viewed as a violation of article 35 of law 3/61 which prohibits reports and statements, undermining national interest and instigating discord in society.
1997 -- Saleh Abdulmalek Al-Saleh, an eminent scholar and educational guide, passed away at the age of 76. He served as head of several government departments, the last of which was the Ministry of Education in 1967.
2004 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued an Amiri Decree approving Kuwait's joining of the two optional protocols on "Child Soldiers and the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution, and Child Pornography" endorsed by the UN on May 25, 2000.
2004 -- Kuwait and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement regulating leisure fishing in the submerged area along the divided zone between the two countries.
2010 -- Kuwait and Serbia signed a health cooperation agreement.
2011 -- The Petrochemicals Industrial Company earned an international "golden rating" for low hazards in production, storage and exportation of urea.
2012 -- Kuwait shut down its embassy in Damascus and ordered its staff to leave the country due to deterioration of security conditions.
2012 -- The National Assembly endorsed a bill for establishing an integrated medical complex, (medical city). (end) rk
