KUWAIT, Oct 7 (KUNA) -- 1961 -- The first British ambassador to Kuwait delivered his credentials to the late Amir, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
1992 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued Amiri Decree 134 to amend some publication laws and related regulations.
1994 -- The State of Kuwait established diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan.
1996 -- More than 107,169 Kuwaiti voters headed to polling stations to elect 50 Parliament members. Up to 18 candidates won seats for the first time.
2001 -- The Cabinet approved forming a supreme committee for charity work, headed by the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, and including officials from the Finance Ministry, Zakat House and other authorities.
2003 -- The international mission for monitoring the Kuwaiti-Iraqi border, UNIKOM, completed its 12-year mission, aimed at strengthening security and stability along the Kuwait-Iraq border.
2005 -- Queen of England Elizabeth II granted Mohammed Abdulrahman Al-Bahar Empire Medal for services provided to the British community in Kuwait, as a gesture intended to promote further the relations between the two countries and people.
2006 -- Under the Sponsorship of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait Sports Club celebrated its 45th anniversary, marking the event with a match against the Brazilian football team. (end) gta
