1960 -- The first bulletin of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry was published. In April 1976, it was named "The Kuwaiti Economist". The publication focused on Kuwait's economy and businessmen, as well as on the latest commercial legislation.
1965 -- Kuwait Savings and Credit Bank commenced giving no-interest loans to citizens used for purposes such as marriage, education, or treatment abroad.
1978 -- Kuwait Finance House (KFH), an Islamic Sharia-compliant bank, commenced operations.
1999 -- The late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received the credentials of the Jordanian Ambassador to Kuwait, Mohammad Al-Qaraan, after a period of tense relations between the two countries in the aftermath of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
1999 -- The implementation of new amendments and articles in the Kuwaiti traffic law began. These include paying penalties for traffic violations between KD 5 and 150.
2001 -- Expatriates using Kuwaiti government health facilities began paying fees, except those with health insurance.
2003 -- Kuwait raised custom taxes from four percent to five percent in implementation of the unified GCC customs tariff.
2003 -- The first issue of "Kuwait Zoom" magazine was published. The magazine included information on tourism, culture, and entertainment in Kuwait.
2007 -- A Cabinet decision on changing the official weekend in the state from Thursday and Friday to Friday and Saturday was implemented. The Thursday-Friday weekend was implemented for schools since 1986 and official bodies since 1995. (end) gta
