UK not to stop weapons sales to Israeli occupation

LONDON, May 9 (KUNA) -- British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said on Thursday that his country would not follow the US in withholding arms sales to the Israeli occupation.
Cameron said in a press statement that the positions are not comparable since the UK is not a large state-to-state arms supplier to the Israeli occupation.
"The US is a massive state supplier of weapons to Israel. We do not have a UK government supply of weapons to Israel, we have a number of licenses, and I think our defense exports to Israel are responsible for significantly less than 1 percent of their total. That is a big difference," Cameron added.
The British foreign secretary's comments came just a day after U.S. President Joe Biden had issued a blunt warning to the Israeli occupation that his administration would stop supplying bombs and artillery shells if its military pushed ahead with an offensive on the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
