CAIRO, May 9 (KUNA) -- Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Jordanian counterpart Bisher Al-Khasawneh affirmed on Thursday that the only solution for the Middle East crisis was through the establishment of a Palestinian state within the June fourth, 1967 borders.
In a press conference following the 32nd session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee, Madbouly said that all challenges after October seventh of 2023 pointed to the necessity the two-states solution called up by the UN for decades.
He warned that forced displacement of Palestinians, whether in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, would be seen as an attempt to eliminate the Palestinian cause and future independent state.
He affirmed that Egypt and Jordan shared a common goal in calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and then embarking on true efforts to establish a Palestine state.
On his part, Jordanian PM Al-Khasawneh reflected his country's utter refusal of the force displacement Palestinians, indicating that such step was a violation of the peace treaty signed between Jordan and the Israeli occupation.
He stressed the importance of reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to end the bloodshed that led to the death of over 35,000 Palestinians so far and the injury of over 70,000.
He called on the world to stop any attempt to carry out a military operation in the southern city of Rafah, which would spell a humanitarian catastrophe for the Palestinian, which would hold the world responsible for such atrocity.
Meanwhile, the 32nd session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee resulted in the signing of several accords and agreements aimed at bolstering ties. (end) aff.gta
