Italy, Jordan urge efforts to reach ceasefire in Gaza

ROME, May 2 (KUNA) -- Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Jordan's King Abdullah II emphasized on Thursday their support for efforts to stop the Israeli occupation's aggression on Gaza and reach a permanent ceasefire.
This came while Meloni welcomed King Abdullah at the Palazzo Chigi, where they held their discussions, before meeting the President Sergio Matarella and the Pope.
In a statement issued by the Chigi, Meloni and the King discussed the situation in the Middle East, stating their support for recent diplomatic efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, in accordance with UN Security Council resolution 2728.
Meloni expressed her appreciation for Jordan's role and reaffirmed Italy's stance to continue providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, and work towards de-escalation in the region, it added. (end) mn.dm
