Israeli Gov't halts taxes to churches in occupied Jerusalem

RAMALLAH, Feb 27 (KUNA) -- Israeli occupation government suspended on Tuesday a tax plan, which would be imposed on churches in Jerusalem city.
Israeli newspaper (Yediot Ahoronot) said, on its website, that Israeli Prime Minister Menjamin Netanyahu agreed with Jerusalem Mayor of Municipality Nir Barakat on forming a committee to draft a solution to the issue of taxes to churches.
After the decision to halt the plan, Christians and Muslims protested at Jerusalem city, including foreigners calling for a complete halt to the plan.
Earlier, heads of churches in the city decided to close down the churches until further notice. (end) nq.mb
