TEHRAN, Dec 27 (KUNA) -- One person was killed and 57 others injured when a 4.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Iran's Alborz Province west of Tehran early Wednesday.
The quake occurred at 00:54 hours local time; the epicenter of the quake was reported to be on the border between Tehran and Alborz provinces, near the city of Malard, according to the IRNA.
Three people have been hospitalized, Director General of Alborz Cisi Management office Mahdi Mehrvar said.
Emergency and firefighters were ready on site, he added.
Another earthquake measuring 5.2 on Richter scale jolted the Iranian capital city, Tehran on December 20.
Iran is crisscrossed by major geological faultlines and has suffered several devastating earthquakes in recent years.(end)
