Kuwait athletes had many accomplishments in '17

KUWAIT, Dec 26 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti athletes had many accomplishments during 2017, winning championships in different types of sports, providing they were capable of competing at different levels.
Following are main accomplishments throughout the year: January 22: Kuwaiti jet skier Mohammad Burbayye won UAE Jet Ski Championship 2017 for Senior Pro Ski GP category.
February 2: Kuwait won the championship of His Highness the Amir's shooting tournament, earning 21 medals.
February 3: The 6th Arab Horse International Festival kicks off in Arab Horse Center known as Bait Al-Arab kicks off, under the auspices of His Highness the Amir.
February 10: Kuwaiti team won the GCC 5th Fencing Championship in Bahrain.
February 23: Kuwaiti Rakan Al-Hasawi won gold medal in Qatari Amir's Sword International Showjumping Championship.
February 25: Kuwaiti shooter Atef Al-Dousari won his first World Shooting Para Sport World Cup Saturday in UAE's Al Ain.
February 25: Ali Al-Kharafi qualified for FEI World Equestrian Games 2018, to be held in North Carolina (USA), after winning the hurdles race of the Qatar's Amir Sword equestrian festival.
March 2: Al-Kharafi won the 5th international equestrian jumping competition, Chi Al-Shaqab, in Qatar.
April 22: Kuwaiti jet-ski world champion Yousef Al-Abdulrazzaq won the 2017 UEA marathon held in Dubai, the UAE.
April 25: The Kuwaiti national team were crowned champions of 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey Challenge Cup of Asia after beating Oman 13-0.
May 1: The stallion "Khaled Al-Hamad" owned by Sheikh Hamad Khaled Al-Sabah won the golden cup at the international horse show in the Netherlands.
May 17: Kuwait triathlete Abdulaziz Al-Rashed won the golden medal at a US triathlon contest.
May 25: Kuwait sporting club won Kuwait Football Association's (KFA) premier league for the 13th time after beating Salmiya 2-1.
July 9: Kuwaiti Ibrahim Al-Dhefeeri and Abdulaziz Al-Mandeel won two gold medals at 12st Asian athletics championship held in India.
July 15: Kuwait's Olympic champion Ahmad Al-Mutairi won the gold medal at the 100-m race World Para Athletics Championships London 2017.
July 16: Yaqoub Al-Yoha and Youssef Karam won the gold medal at 2017 Arab Athletics Championships in Tunisia.
August 8: Shooter Abdulrahman Al-Faihan won the Trap contest at the Asian Championship Shotgun at Astana, Kazakhstan.
August 12: Abdullah Al-Tergi, Mansour Al-Tergi and Abdulaziz Al-Saad won the gold medal in the Skeet game at the Asian Championship Shotgun at Astana, Kazakhstan.
August 13: Kuwait Shooting Federation signed a memorandum of understanding with Kazakhstan sport shooting federation on training and sharing expertise.
August 20: Kuwait's Kyokushin team won two gold medals at the international Fight Night championship in Lebanon.
September 7: Kuwait Sports Club crowned champion of super cup for the fourth time after beating Qadsia 4-5 on penalties.
September 9: Kuwait's Rakan Al-Hassawi won the 1st and 2nd positions at international show jumping championship in The Netherland.
September 11: Kuwaiti jet-ski rider Abdullah Al-Fadhel won the first place at the US water bicycle tournament for senior professionals.
October 4: Rashed Al-Sahli won the gold medal at world jet ski championship in US State of Arizona. October 5: Kuwaiti Ali Al-Kharafi won first place at an international jumping championship in Belgium.
October 6: Sattam Al-Sahali of Kuwait was elected uncontested as Chairman of the Asian Sports Press Union in the Pakistani capital.
October 19: His Highness the Crown Prince shooting tournament kicked off.
October 27: Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Abdullah was elected, by acclamation, as chairman of the Arab Tennis Federation for a four-year term, 2017-21.
November 4: Kuwait ice hockey team were crowned champions of Bangkok international tournament after beating Canada 3-2 in the final.
November 10: Meshari Bushaiba of Kuwait won the first place at the Dubai Motocross Championship.
November 12: Kuwait's Khaled Al-Awadhi won the gold medal at Asia Wakeboard championship in Cable Wake Park Taiwan.
November 23: Kuwait's Rakan Al-Hasawi won the first place at Al-Rayyan International Showjumping Championship.
November 25: Ali Al-Kharafi won Al-Rayyan International horse jumping championship, crossing all 135-cm-high hurdles.
November 25: World jet ski champion, Yusuf Al-Abdulrazzaq of Kuwait, won Aquabike Grand Prix of Duba, and maintained his top world championship standings.
December 1: Bassel Al-Dhefeeri won UAE's 2017 Rally for the T-1 category.
December 6: FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced, from Kuwait, the lift of international ban on Kuwait football.
December 23: Kuwait wins regional recognition for its efforts to develop the game of Chess in Asia. (pick up previous).
