OIC welcomes UNGA's Jerusalem resolution

JEDDAH, Dec 22 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Friday welcomed the "historic" resolution of the UN General Assembly rejecting the US decisions on Jerusalem.
The UNGA resolution, which received 128 votes against nine, reaffirmed the Palestinian rights and rejected any illegitimate attempt that would undermine the historic, legal and political status of Jerusalem, OIC Secretary General Dr. Yusus Al-Othaimeen said in a statement.
The UNGA resolution rejected US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as capital of Israel and ordering transfer of US embassy from Tel Aviv to the occupied city.
Al-Othaimeen welcomed the principles positions of the countries that supported the resolution, who stood behind what was right and just.
He reiterated importance of abiding by resolutions adopted by UN Security Council and UNGA regarding the occupied city of Jerusalem. (end) nq.bs
