BRUSSELS, Nov 28 (KUNA) -- EU High Representative Federica Mogherini said Tuesday that Europe and Africa are increasing the level of cooperation in security to establish peace.
"The security challenges we are facing starting from radicalisation and terrorism, trafficking and criminal organisations are binding us together and we can share common solutions," she told an African Union-European Union Ministerial Meeting in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, this evening.
She noted that this is the first EU-AU ministerial meeting since 2014 and added that partners deserve to meet more regularly.
"Our strategic interests on both sides for today is real and deepening and strengthening but with a new sense of ownership and belonging in security, economy, climate, migration," she said.
Mogherini called for closer Europe-Africa cooperation to tackle illegal migration in order to solve this problem once and for all.
She stressed that the fifth EU-Africa summit that begins in Ivory Coast tomorrow "will send a very strong message of cooperation and partnership." (end) nk.gb
