KFAED, KRCS sign aid MoU for Rohingya refugees

KUWAIT, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- A memorandum of understanding was signed Sunday by Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) and Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) to provide USD-1-million relief aid to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
The MoU was signed by KRCS Board Chairman Hilal Al-Sayer and KFAED Director-General Abdulwahab Ahmed Al-Bader.
Speaking to KUNA after the signing, Al-Bader reiterated Kuwait's USD-15-million pledge to provide relief aid to Rohingya refugees.
Out of this figure, USD one million was offered by the KFAED to fulfill the urgent needs of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, he added.
KRCS Board Chairman Hilal Al-Sayer said the allocated sum includes USD 600,000 for food aid and USD 400,000 for medical supplies.
He estimated the number of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh at around 600,000, appreciating this first-of-its-kind cooperative MoU with the KFAED. (end) skm.mt
