Russia, Sudan sign cooperation deals

KHARTOUM, Nov 24 (KUNA) -- Khartoum and Moscow have signed eight cooperation agreements that would promote cooperation in many fields, as Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir concluded his trip to Russia.
The two countries signed eight agreements in fields of oil, gold mining, peaceful use of nuclear energy, higher education, foreign relations and agriculture, foreign minister Ibrahim Ghandour said in a statement Friday.
He also said that Khartoum and Moscow agreed to boost military cooperation aimed at providing protection for the Red Sea.
Sudanese news agency quoted Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev as saying that Moscow considered Khartoum a major partner in the African continent. (end) mmm.bs
