Russian, Qatari leaders discuss Mideast, Gulf issues

MOSCOW, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin and Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim Al-Thani discussed Monday developments in the Middle East and Gulf region, the Kremlin said in a statement.
The two leaders exchanged over the phone views over Syrian crisis in light of victories against terrorist groups that would contribute to political settlement, it added.
Putin briefed Sheikh Tamim on preparations for a summit meeting that would group leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran - the countries sponsoring the Syrian talks in Astana, Kazakhstan. (end) as.bs
