Kuwait hopes compensations issue with Iraq ends soon

KUWAIT, Nov 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's file of compensations of damage caused by the Iraqi invasion and occupation in 1990-91 is being discussed with the Iraqi officials, Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah said Sunday.
He expressed his hope that the two sides would reach a solution to end this issue very soon.
In replies to reporters' questions on the sidelines of participation in a ceremony of Oman's Embassy marking the Sultanate's 47th anniversary, Al-Jarallah said Iraqi President Fuad Masum will pay a key visit to Kuwait on Monday (tomorrow).
He said the visit comes at a time when the region is going through critical conditions.
Masum is expected to hold official talks with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
In an interview with KUNA earlier today, the Iraqi leader commended Kuwait's interest in rebuilding Iraq's areas liberated from the so-called Islamic State.
He thanked Kuwait for hosting a donors' conference on the construction of these areas that will be held early next year. (end) nma.tab.hm
