Saudi Arabia condemns suicide attack in Afghanistan

RIYADH, Nov 17 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the suicide attack that took place in Kabul, Afghanistan on Thursday, which killed and wounded several people, official media reported Friday.
The Kingdom reiterates its solidarity with Afghanistan and firm stand against extremism and terrorism, a senior official source at Saudi foreign ministry stated, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Saudi ministry also extended sincere condolences and sorrow to the victims' families, and to the Afghan government and people, wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded.
At least 18 people were killed and many others wounded in a blast outside a wedding hall at a political gathering in Afghan capital city Kabul on Thursday, said Afghan officials.
Kabul police said that a suicide bomber detonated explosive outside a wedding hall near Lab-e-Jar square in Kabul's PD4 area.
The blast killed at least 18 people, including eight policemen, and wounded 15 others.
The suicide bomber targeted the hall in Khair Khana where a number of high-ranking officials of political party Jamiat-e-Islami had gathered. (end) mdm.ma
