Saudi response to Syrian opposition part of efforts for peace

RIYADH, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- The Saudi cabinet has said that the Kingdom's response to a request from the Syrian opposition to hold an expanded meeting in Riyadh is part of the country's policy supporting the efforts to achieve peace and counter terrorism.
The ministers' meeting on Tuesday, chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, hoped "the efforts of the opposition components will be crowned with consensus and success." Meanwhile, the cabinet welcomed a call made by the 20th Arab Conference on Countering Terrorism, held in Tunis, on the importance of monitoring the spread of extremism among females in universities and schools, as well as protecting them from terrorist acts and warning them of terrorist propaganda, in addition to raising families' awareness of the threat of electronic terrorism.
Today's meeting commended the Kingdom's progress in the Protecting Investors' Minority rankings from 36th to 10th on the World Bank's report, issued in November.
Reiterating the Kingdom's condemnation of the explosion resulting in a fire on a joint oil pipeline with Bahrain, the Cabinet emphasized the Kingdom's support of Bahrain against anything that may inflict harm on its security, stability or the safety of its citizens and residents. (end) mdm.msa
