KUWAIT, Nov 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) signed on Sunday three contracts with American company (UOP) to provide technological assistance for the integrated petrochemical complex at Al-Zour refinery.
"These contracts represent a big shift in the company's planned strategies in all of its various projects," said KIPIC Executive Manager Hashim Hashim in a press release.
"It aims to localize technology and qualify the national technical staff for future operation," Hashim added.
On his part, Ahmed Al Jaimaz, Executive Vice President of Petrochemicals and Liquefied Gas, said signing the contracts is an important step. It puts a long-term partnership and a platform for technology settlement and rehabilitation of Kuwaiti technical personnel.
This partnership will guarantee safe and efficient factory operations as well as providing sustainable technological support, Al-Jaimaz added.
He pointed out that selecting UOP, the world's leading provider of oil refining, gas processing and petrochemical production, comes in accordance with the value added criteria and the study of all technical and economic aspects. UOP has previously presented technology, consultations and strategic studies in the oil, gas and petrochemicals industry to many local, regional and international factories.
Board of Directors of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) approved on July 12, 2016, establishing the KIPIC, which is responsible for the integration stages of construction, operation and management of the refining complex, petrochemicals and LNG importation facilities in Al-Zour refinery.
AL-Zour refinery is one of the largest and most important development and strategic projects in the State of Kuwait.(end) ht.amh.nhq
