Syrian regime controls E. Boukamal

AMMAN, Nov 9 (KUNA) -- The Syrian regime said on Thursday its forces have fully liberated Al-Boukamal city, about 140 km southeast of Deir Ezzor, from the so-called Islamic State (IS).
The liberation of the city is of paramount importance since it represents the fall of the group's plans in the region, the Syrian army said in a statement.
It also constitutes a strategic achievement and a base for eradicating terrorist groups in all Syrian territories, it added.
The latest development came after remnants of IS militants withdrew from the city to the eastern part of Deir Ezzor, it noted. (end) tk.mt
