Suicide blast kills 3 policemen in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Nov 9 (KUNA) -- At least three policemen including a senior police official were killed and four others wounded in a suicide blast in Quetta city of Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province on Thursday, said officials.
A senior police official in Quetta, SSP Naseebullah told KUNA that the blast targeted senior police official Additional Inspector General (AIG) Telecommunications Hamid Shakeel who was leaving his residence and was passing near Chaman Housing Scheme area.
He confirmed that the senior police official was killed in the suicide attack. The injured were immediately shifted to the nearest military hospital where an emergency was imposed.
Provincial government spokesperson, Anwar Ul Haq Kakar also confirmed the casualties' toll. The area has been cordoned off and a search operation went underway in the surrounding areas.
The AIG's car was badly damaged in the explosion. Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed condolences to the families of the martyred individuals. He also lauded the efforts and sacrifices of policemen in eradicating terrorism and upholding peace and security in the region. (end) sbk.tg
