ISLAMABAD, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Health Minister Jamal Al-Harbi attended the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean 64th session along with other health leaders at Pakistan's capital on Monday.
The regional committee, which includes 22 countries, is focusing on plans to endorse a proposed regional framework for action on cancer prevention and control.
The health officials also plan to endorse a proposed updated framework for action on climate change and health.
Attending the inauguration ceremony as chief guest is Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain, alongside over 250 public health leaders and experts.
Earlier, the Kuwaiti ministry's National Program for Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer head Fahad Al-Ibrahim presented Kuwait's pioneering experience in early detection of colorectal cancer in a speech.
Al-Ibrahim considered Kuwait's expertise in the field pioneering and the first in the Middle East.
He said there was continuing demand from nationals for the programme's services, saying it had been successful in eliminating a significant proportion of the disease in the country. (end) sbk.sd
