ROME, Sept 21 (KUNA) -- President of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah stressed Thursday the importance of coordinating efforts between Arab and European media institutes, saying that cooperation within this field was necessary to provide clear and transparent news.
Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij, also Director General and Chairman of the Board for Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), is in Rome, heading FANA's delegation to a two-day Arab-European media forum hosted by the Italian News Agency (ANSA).
Speaking at the Forum, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij stressed the importance of creating a mechanism that would regulate meetings between Arab and European news agencies.
Coordination will bring views together and will help to combat extreme views and terrorism, affirmed the FANA President who indicated that national news agencies around the globe must offer accurate and trustworthy news.
The forum saw the participation of ANSA's Director General Giuseppe Cerbone, FANA's Secretary General Fareed Ayyar, and a score of Arab and European media officials. (end) mn.gta
