Sisi invites Putin to attend nuclear plant signing ceremony

MOSCOW, Sept 4 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi on Monday invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the signing ceremony of a nuclear power plant in Egypt.
This came during a meeting between both leaders on the sidelines of BRICS Summit in China today.
Al-Sisi was quoted by a Russian presidential statement as saying that his country had fulfilled all required procedures for the construction of a nuclear power plant with Moscow's help.
"It will be a good opportunity to welcome you to Egypt," Al-Sisi said, addressing the Russian president.
Putin hailed relations between Moscow and Cairo in various cooperative fields, noting that trade exchange grew by 14 percent in the first half of this year.
He also pointed to close cooperation between both sides in the resolution of regional crises.
In 2015, Egypt signed an agreement with Russia to build a four-reactor power plant with a capacity of 4,800 MW.
The nuclear plant will be built in Dabaa, about 130 kilometers (80 miles) northwest of Cairo on the Mediterranean coast. (end) as.mt
