Kuwait, Britain seek stronger military ties

KUWAIT, July 23 (KUNA) -- Acting Undersecretary of Kuwait's National Guard Maj Gen Faleh Shujaa and a delegation from the British Army on Sunday discussed boosting bilateral cooperation.
The meeting discussed cooperation in security and training, the National Guard said in a statement. It stressed the significance of such visits for promoting relations and exchanging of expertise.
It also pointed to the National Guard's keenness, through the strategic goals of the 2020 document themed "Security First," through bolstering security and military ties with the world's advanced institutions, including the British.
This will push ahead the wheel of modernization, and promoting the National Guard's role in Kuwait's security system.
The British delegation reiterated the importance of their visit for further close relations with the Kuwaiti National Guard, and the exchange if expertise for mutual benefit.
The Kuwaiti side in the meeting included Director of the Diwan of Deputy Chief of the Kuwait National Guard, Major General Jamal Mohammad, Operations and Staff Commander Brigadier Bader Abdullah, and other senior commanders.
The British delegation included Commander of the 51st Infantry Brigade Brigadier Gary Deakin CBE, the British Military Attache in Kuwait and other senior military officials. (end) fn.msa
