Turkey-brokered deal helped curb Syria infighting - Cavusoglu

ISTANBUL, June 25 (KUNA) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated Sunday that infighting in Syria has eased to a large extent after the agreement on cessation of hostilities.
In statements to reporters on the sidelines on the Justice and Development Party's celebration of Eid Al-Fitr, Cavusoglu said the situation is Syria has significantly improved thanks to the agreement brokered by Turkey, Russia and Iran on May 4.
"The situation in Syria now is better than it was a year ago, but the crisis in Syria would not end without a political solution," he said.
He pointed out that Ankara is exerting strenuous efforts to find this solution as well as to secure humanitarian aid to war-traumatized people in Syria.
Iran, Russia and Turkey reached an accord on May 4 at peace talks in the Kazakh capital Astana that would see four de-escalation regions set up across Syria. (end) ta.ibi
