Spanish coastguards rescue 250 illegal migrants

MADRID, June 24 (KUNA) -- Spanish coastguards have saved 250 illegal migrants off the southern coasts on Saturday.
In a press statement, the Spanish coastguard forces said they has received information from agents in Arab Maghreb countries indicating that seven boats, carrying illegal migrants, have started their journey towards the Spanish coasts.
In one hour, the search and rescue teams have managed to intervene and rescue 250 illegal migrants heading to Spain.
The Spanish coast guards announced on Thursday saving 414 illegal migrants.
According to the International Organization for Migration, 3,314 people attempted this crossing between January 1 and April 30 this year. They recorded 59 deaths over the same period in this part of the Mediterranean. (end) hnd.ibi
