Baghdad touts Abadi's regional tour as "successful"

BAGHDAD, June 22 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi government said Thursday the recent visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi to Riyadh, Tehran and Kuwait was "successful".
Iraqi government spokesman Saad Al-Hadithi said in a statement Thursday that the prime minister's regional tour has proved the Iraqi government's opening up to all countries in the region and across the world in order to enhance cooperation with them and to fight extremism and terrorism.
Al-Hadithi described the atmosphere of the meetings and the results of the talks between the Iraqi delegation and the three countries as "positive and constructive".
He affirmed that they laid down important foundations for growing and firm relations in various fields, and strengthened trust between Iraq and other countries of the region.
He pointed out that the governments of these countries expressed a serious desire and readiness to consolidate relations with Iraq and to expand the prospects of mutual interests. (end) ahh.haq
