GDP up in Euro area, EU

BRUSSELS, June 8 (KUNA) -- GDP rose by 0.6 percent in both the Euro area and the European Union during the first quarter of 2017, compared with the previous quarter, according to figures published by Eurostat, the EU's statistical office Thursday.
In the fourth quarter of 2016, GDP grew by 0.5 percent in the Euro area and 0.6 percent in the EU.
Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, GDP rose by 1.9 percent in the Euro area and by 2.1 percent in the EU in the first quarter of 2017.
During the first quarter of 2017, GDP in the United States increased by 0.3 percent compared with the previous quarter.
Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, GDP in the US grew by 2.0 percent, it noted. (end) nk.hb
