IRBIL, May 19 (KUNA) -- Relief teams have handed over 1,500 food parcels, provided by Kuwait Relief Society, to relocated Iraqis settling in locations outside shantytowns in the province of Al-Sulaimaniya.
Dr. Omar Al-Kanderi, the general consul in Irbil, affirmed in a statement to KUNA that the necessary supplies were given to the displaced as part of the State of Kuwait humanitarian campaign, "Kuwait on your side." Kuwaiti diplomats, in coordination with local philanthropists, distributed the parcels to the Iraqis who have been settling in locations outside the refugee camps.
Al-Kanderi said the aid was given in line with the humanitarian initiative by His Highnss the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah aimed at easing off these Iraqis' hardships.
Meanwhile, Saleh Mehdi Yousuf, in charge of public relations at the local relief association, "Ronahe," indicated in remarks to KUNA that the relocated, settled at regions outside the camps, get much less aid as compared to the assistance that reach their compatriots inside the shantytowns.
Last week, Kuwait distributed 5,000 food parcels to Iraqis who live in residential areas in northern Iraq. (end) sbr.rk
