NEW YORK, May 16 (KUNA) -- State of Kuwait Mission to the UN held Tuesday Kuwait Heritage Exhibition, part of a series of events organized by the mission to highlight the Arab Gulf country's role in different domains.
The three-day exhibition, held in cooperation with the Heritage Team of the Voluntary Work Center of Kuwait, marks the 54th anniversary of Kuwait's UN membership, Kuwait Permanent Representative to the UN Mansour Al-Otaibi said in a statement to KUNA.
He thanked the Heritage Team for their preparations of the exhibition and by also making necessary adjustments inside the Mission to receive the guests.
Al-Otaibi said he was happy with the visiting diplomats in the first day of the exhibition, where they got acquainted with tradition and heritage of Kuwait, as well as development of institutions.
Kuwait's Ambassador welcomed the visitors before they toured the exhibition.
Anwar Al-Rifae, Head of the Heritage Team and vice-president of the Voluntary Work Center, said the exhibition included rare pieces that narrates history of Kuwait.
He told KUNA there were pieces resembling parts of the old Kuwaiti house, in addition to paintings and photos depicting the development of Kuwait.
"We wanted to show the historic beginning of Kuwait by displaying rare and genuine antiquities, which tell the story of our fathers and grandfathers, and their role in this history," he said.
Al-Rifae said the Heritage Team also wanted to show the shape of the old Kuwaiti market and the making of the Arabic coffee.
He said state institutions were contributing to the exhibition like the Ministry of Public Works, Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait Airways and the Public Endowment Secretariat.
