British entity lauds Kuwait's humanitarian efforts

LONDON, April 29 (KUNA) -- Kuwait had reinforced its position in the international humanitarian field as a leader in this domain, earning the respect of the global community in return, said a report by a British entity Saturday.
In its report "An Emerging Philanthropic Superpower? Kuwaiti humanitarian efforts in Syria and beyond" the Conservative Middle East Council (CMEC) said that Kuwait's efforts to establish itself as a world leader in humanitarian assistance should be admired.
According to the CMEC, the publication by Timothy Stafford, a former UK Parliamentary staffer who worked in the office of Theresa May prior to her ministerial career, showed how Kuwait -- under the leadership of His Highness of the Amir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah -- has proved itself a global leader in humanitarian aid.
The publication also revealed that Kuwait was now the third largest donor to the international effort to tackle the Syrian refugee crisis. Only the United States and United Kingdom, whose population and economies are far bigger, has given more generously.
The findings come just two weeks after the most recent Syrian pledging conference. Co-hosted by Kuwait, the country pledged an additional USD 200 million in aid to help Syrian refugees over the next three years.
The CMEC was established in 1980 as entity that helps conservative MPs to better understand matters connected with the Middle East region.
