ALEXANDRIA, April 26 (KUNA) -- Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation held on Wednesday a prize distribution ceremony for "Diwan Al-Arab" contest, organized in cooperation with the Egyptian "Sawt Al-Arab" radio station for the third year in a row.
The foundation chairman, Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain, said in a statement during the ceremony, "Poetry is a fortress for the Arab language; its spiritual unity," adding that he was elated with the gathering of elite Arab poets and literati.
Up to 174 male and female poets from various Arab countries have taken part in this year's competition.
Al-Babtain expressed sorrow that no females were among winners of the award latest edition.
Top winner was the Egyptian poet Mohammad Ahmad Hassan for his poem, "the poets," the second was Abdulatif Al-Mubarak of Saudi Arabia for his poem, "the heritage of qabil." The third winner was the Iraqi Husam Latif Al-Batat for "rain of departure." The Algerian Reda Bu Rabaa came fourth for his poem, "like tiny leaves." (end) ms.rk
