ROME, April 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ambassador in Rome Sheikh Ali Khaled Al-Sabah opened Sunday His Highness the Amir of Kuwait International Shooting Cup, a tournament co-organized by Kuwait Embassy and Italy's shooting federation.
Sheikh Ali and president of the Italian shooting federation, Senator Luciano Rossi, opened the competitions, which were held at Umbriaverde shooting range in Todi, central Italy, the Embassy said in a statement.
More than 460 shooters from Kuwait, Italy, Europe, South America and New Zealand are competing in the championship, which will conclude on Tuesday evening, it noted.
Kuwait is competing with 12 male and five female shooters.
Sheikh Ali was quoted by the statement as saying he was happy to see the number of shooters increase by over 50 percent compared with last year.
Rossi, on his part, thanked the Embassy for launching the shooting cup, and commended the achievements of Kuwaiti shooters Fheid Al-Daihani and Abdullah Al-Rashidi during last year's Olympic Games in Brazil. (end) mn.bs
