Japanese PM condemns Paris attack in message to Hollande

TOKYO, April 21 (KUNA) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Friday condemned a terrorist attack in Paris and underlined Japan's solidarity with France.
In a condolence message delivered to French President Francois Hollande following Thursday's deadly shooting in central Paris, Abe said, "I am deeply shocked to learn that the terrorism incident occurred on Paris's main street of the Champs-Elysees, where many people from around the world visit," according to the Foreign Ministry.
"On behalf of the Japanese government and people, I would like to pray for the deceased, and express my heartfelt sympathy to the injured and their families. This kind of terrorism is an attack on the entire civilized world, and I resolutely condemn it," Abe said.
The premier also expressed his strong solidarity to Hollande and the French people at this difficult time. "Japan will continue to fight terrorism hand-in-hand with France and the rest of the international community," he stressed.
