M 5.1 quake hits SW China, no casualties

TOKYO, March 27 (KUNA) -- A 5.1 magnitude earthquake jolted southwest China's Yunnan Province on Monday, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.
There were no immediate reports of casualties, but fire fighters and medical teams are heading to the villages near the epicenter, the report said. Some houses were reportedly damaged from the 7:55 a.m. (2355 Sunday GMT) quake, it said.
The epicenter was at a depth of about 12 km in Yangbi County, according to the measurement of the China Earthquake Networks Center. A 6.5-magnitude earthquake hit Yunnan in 2014, claiming more than 600 lives and destroying over 80,000 homes. (end) mk.haq
